I feel very special and loved today...

...thanks to my wonderful children who really went out of their way to make my Mother's Day special. I kidd you not when I say I heard whispers and stealthy noises and the microwave opening VERY early this morning...4 am to be exact. They got up extra early and snuck out to the chicken coop in the dark to get some eggs (even though there's a huge resident spider who sometimes blocks the path...now that's love and sacrifice) to whip up these cake towers for me.

AND they washed up afterwards.

But I was greeted this morning in bed at a more reasonable hour by a paper flag banner (because they know how much I like them) a menu to choose from (which even included tuna on toast, something I confess to having quite often for breakfast much to the girls' disgust and much nose holding...again more love and sacrifice) and Rosie and Ella dressed like me in my poor boys caps, scarves and big boots.

After eating my delicious bacon and eggs they gave me their presents. From Rosie I got a really cute bunny mug (she said she chose it so I could use it for Easter decorating...she knows me well) filled with lollies and Ella gave me a great hand spade with a packet of lettuce seeds. Plus she gave me a pot that she painted in class.

My favourite things though were the cards/pictures that the girls made. Here's Rosie's.

I'm saying "Oh, no, not more washing", Sir Mitchell is saying "Who used all the toilet paper?", Princess Rosalie is saying "Ewww, Ellanor, you're feral!" and Princess Ellanor (in a Robin Hood outfit...very appropriate) is saying back "You're a yam-wam." No, none of us, except Ella, knows what that means and it drives Rosie nuts when Ella says it to her, hence it's effectiveness. So now you all have a little window into what our family life is really like.

Ella's picture is my favourite. Last week after taking the girls to see the local play of Oliver, which was VERY good, I mentioned that if I could act as anyone, I'd love to play Calamity Jane, of course. So Ella made me my own "Mummity Jane" poster complete with a photo of my face stuck on the picture.

I hope all you mothers out there have a lovely day being spoilt by your families. May you do no laundry, may your dinner be cooked for you and may all your dishes be washed and the house stay tidy with out you lifting a finger. Amen.

  2. How beautiful Esther! Treasure these times as you seem to be doing. Veronika comes down and says just as we were about to go out - I'd like to make you a brunch - too late; but we all did things together that day which was nice.
I had a nice Mother's day - We went to Nazareth House Mass with Oma, organised a lovely morning tea there when some of the other families arrived also (Nolda, Kyle, Nicole, Greg, Dom. Louise and kids). Dad and I then went to see Star Trek - great film I needed some explanations to work it out - and then a great time at Luke and Emma's with family, noise, ruff ruff (who was shaking with fright when first arrived); bbq, wine, hand and foot; laughter etc - just as it should be.

    Love you
    Mum

  3. Love it. Those girls are so creative like their mum.
Missed you at the catch up at Luke and Emmas.

Ruff Ruff is settling in well. Loves to get out for walks and is so excited to see us when we get home. Rainbow and her are doing ok. She is mega curious about Aussie though, which Aussie doesn't like. We had a busy day, no cleaning done and I got spoilt by the kids.

    Love you, Bec

  4. OOOH! I completely remember Capt. Hook's house, we used to shoot those little flower weed things as we walked by. haha and I vaguely remember the pineapple incident, but probably only from the stories.
Remember Peter Pan's hide out in the park? and the alphabet stuck around the top of the family room?

  5. you had stuck up the alphabet around the top of the family room on that old printing paper. I think I probably remember it cause I would play out there so often. Haha I think when it fell down the blue tack stayed up there for many many years.

  • I love the smell of cinnamon and vanilla.

  • I have 4 chooks. They are MY pets. Another tick on my dream-come-true chart.
  • I don't eat dessert much any more. I'm not dieting, I just don't want it. (Does that mean I'm growing up if I say no to an icecream cone?)
  • I'll still always say yes to chocolate though!
  • I like to sit on the front stairs in the sun, to drink my morning cup of tea, while I contemplate what to do in the garden.
  • I've got the gardening bug again recently. It comes and goes with the weather. I'm envisioning cottage flowers in pink, blue and white to go with my green picket fence.
