A Christmas Summary

I'm baaack. (See Mitch, I don't spend all my time on the computer.) It's been a month since my last post. I feel like I've been very busy since Christmas and I've been thinking "I'll have to write a post on this and a post on that" but time has passed too quickly, so I'll try to do a few short summaries over the next few days to keep you up to date. I was going to try to do it all in one go, but that would have been one mammoth post.

Here's my recipe book that I made for my sister, Veronika, for Christmas but I tried it in a different colour scheme. I like it, although I think I prefer the pastels. But I might do these colours for my meal recipe book, which I've yet to make.

For my nephew, Isaac, I made a photo peg puzzle. I did get the idea off a photo I saw on someone's blog, but I can't remember where. Contact me if you know so I can credit them properly. He was very excited pulling out the pieces to see which photos were underneath.

It was great to see all my family for Christmas. We spent it together on the weekend before, which is great because it makes the actual day nice and relaxed with no travelling. We did the obligatory family photos but not many of mine worked out, except this one of me and my sisters, which I love.

I did very well present-wise for Christmas, being showered with all manner of gorgeous red things for my kitchen, from hubby and the kids. I also got some red bowls from my brother and his wife which go perfectly. And don't forget the packet of jellybeans, my favourite lollies, from Ella.

The decorations are all down now, which should mean that I go back to my pastel decorating, but I couldn't put all my red things away without using them, so the red's here to stay for a while. Here's my hutch in it's red, white and blue. Very patriotic.

  1. Hey Esther,

It's good to see a new post.

I heard you aren't coming down this weekend, but I wished you were.
I actually bought a book for you yesterday when I was out with Jonno. We were walking to west end and saw that Lifeline was having a massive book sale at the convention center.
I found I couldn't resist the old hard fabric like covered books. They were really cheap and so when I found one called "True Wild West Stories" I thought I'd get it for you. :)

I'll probably get a post up about the books sometime, so you'll get to see what it looks like.

  2. hey,

I really don't mind you looking at my blog, I don't see it as anything particularly private. I mostly just have it for myself.
But yeah, feel free to read them, it's ok.

Oh and those photos that you liked I actually took myself. I set the camera on a timer and put it on the ground.

    :)

  4. Hi Esther,

nice website. looks idyllic. the photo peg thing you made for your nephew is great - would like to know more about how to make that. Won't be able to catch you much on this blog though - haven't much time to surf the internet these days - so I find facebook useful - one site does it all : )

  • I love the smell of cinnamon and vanilla.

  • Polka dots can make me sigh with delight.
  • I have 4 chooks. They are MY pets. Another tick on my dream-come-true chart.
  • I don't eat dessert much any more. I'm not dieting, I just don't want it. (Does that mean I'm growing up if I say no to an icecream cone?)
  • I'll still always say yes to chocolate though!
  • I like to sit on the front stairs in the sun, to drink my morning cup of tea, while I contemplate what to do in the garden.
  • I've got the gardening bug again recently. It comes and goes with the weather. I'm envisioning cottage flowers in pink, blue and white to go with my green picket fence.
